Technical Training
Technical training classes present advanced instruction focused on a specific topic and are presented cost-free to full conference registrants! The starting and ending day and/or time for each class varies depending on the amount of instruction time required to fulfill course requirements.
All classes have a minimum and maximum number of attendees. Each class is filled on a first-come, first-served basis and you can make your class selection during the registration process. American Heart Association First Aid/CPR/AED

This class is a comprehensive training that develops the knowledge, skills, and confidence to respond to a medical emergency. The intended audience for this class is individuals who are not healthcare providers or professional rescuers but desire, or are required, to be certified in basic emergency medical care, including certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and the use of an automated external defibrillator.
Attendees who successfully complete this class will receive an American Heart Association certification card that is valid for two (2) years. This class also meets re-certification requirements. Attendees must participate in the entire duration of the class to be eligible for testing, training credit, and certificate. Late-arriving participants cannot be accommodated.
This class is limited to the first fifteen (15) participants. This class is filled on a first-come, first-served basis and you can make your class selection during the registration process. Confined Space Entry and Rescue

One of the most dangerous environments for workers is permit-required confined spaces. These spaces are known for loss of life and serious injuries to workers and responders. 29 CFR 1910.146 defines Permit Required Confined Spaces, as a confined space that has one (1) or more of the following characteristics:
- Contains, or has a potential to contain, a hazardous atmosphere;
- Contains a material that has the potential to engulf an entrant;
- Has a configuration than an entrant could be trapped or asphyxiated; or
- Contains any other recognized serious safety and health hazard.
This class consists of classroom instruction and hands-on work with the State Fire Rescue confined space simulator. Classroom instruction will refresh participants on confined space permits, lockout / tagout, air monitoring, ventilation, ropes and knots, rescue, team evaluation, pre-planning, rescuer safety, and the incident command system. The simulator will present information from the classroom session into hands-on evolutions.
Participants must wear long pants, long-sleeve shirt, and work type boots; steel toe protective footwear is not required. High heels and open toe footwear are not permitted. Participants must bring and wear a hard-hat and gloves.
This class is limited to the first twenty-five (25) paid registrants. It is filled on a first-come, first-served basis and you can make your class selection during the registration process. Injury and Illness Recordkeeping

This class is for persons responsible for maintaining injury and illness records in accordance with 29 CFR 1904, Recording and Reporting Occupational Injuries and Illnesses. Topics include recordkeeping regulations and guidelines, Forms 300, 301, and 301A as well as the compliance directive Kentucky OSH utilizes to evaluate your records. A recordkeeping example workshop is part of the course, time permitting. This course offers Eastern Kentucky University - OSHA Training Institute Education Center® certification.
Upon completion, participants will have the ability to identify the requirements for recordkeeping, posting, and reporting. Participants will learn how to complete OSHA Form 300, Log of Work-Related Injuries and Illnesses, OSHA Form 300A Summary of Work-Related Injuries and Illnesses, and OSHA Form 301 Injury and Illness Incident Report.
This class is pre-approved for .4 continuing education units. Attendees who successfully complete this course will receive the OSHA 7845 Recordkeeping Rule Seminar Certificate of Achievement.

KYSAFE Partnerships

Cost-free partnership programs offered by the Kentucky Education and Labor Cabinet, Department of Workplace Standards, Division of Occupational Safety and Health Education and Training - also known as KYSAFE - are collaborations with employers to develop safer workplaces. KYSAFE offers the Voluntary Protection Partnership Program, Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program, and the Construction Partnership Program. KYSAFE holds a “Partnership Day” in conjunction with the Annual Governors Safety and Health Conference and Exposition. Participants can learn more about the partnership programs and hear partnership presentations addressing various safety and health topics. The topics represent best practices and employer implementation of their practices
OSHA 7505, Introduction to Incident (Accident) Investigation

This class covers an introduction to basic accident investigation procedures and describes accident analysis techniques. Class topics include reasons for conducting accident investigations, employer responsibilities related to workplace accident investigations, and a four (4) step incident investigation procedure. The target audience is the employer, manager, employee, or employee representative who is involved in conducting incident and/or near-miss or close call investigations. Attendees will learn the basic skills necessary to conduct an effective accident investigation at the workplace. Attendees that successfully complete this class will receive the OSHA 7505 Certificate of Completion. Attendees must participate in the entire duration of the class to be eligible for the training credit and certificate. This course is limited to the first forty (40) paid registrants.
Scaffold Builder

This two (2) day class includes classroom instruction and hands-on scaffold building. The class covers supported scaffolding, including frame-type systems, tube & coupler scaffolding, and the requirements of 29 CFR 1926.451. Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive a certificate from the Scaffold Training Institute of Texas.
Participants must be able to climb scaffolding. Participants mest wear long pants, long-sleeve shirt, and protective footwear (no cowboy style). Participants must bring and wear a hart hat and gloves.
This class is limited to the first sixteen (16) paid registrants. It is filled on a first-come, first-served basis and you can make your class selection during the registration process. Attendees must participate in the entire duration of the class to be eligible for the training credit and certificate. Late arriving participants cannot be accommodated.
