​​​Mr. Barkley is a Certified Safety Professional with over ten (10) years’ experience in manufacturing, warehousing, primary aluminum production, and utilities.  He worked in various safety positions at General Electric, Amazon.com, Century Aluminum, and is currently the corporate safety manager at Big Rivers Electric in Owensboro.
 
Aaron graduated in 2014 with a master’s degree in occupational safety and health from Eastern Kentucky University and began working in Louisville at General Electric.  He conducted Job Safety Assessments (JSA) with operators, completing over 150 JSAs and machine assessments on various pieces of equipment to aid in training and reduce human error. 
 
Aaron worked with leaders at a former employer to develop a safety auditing program that allowed him to conduct audits across all locations in North America to identify gaps in safety and determine corrective actions.  Aaron helped organize and lead two (2) safety leadership programs for all North American plants which focused on safety leadership and driving positive culture through human performance principles. 
 
Aaron works with leaders every day in both bargaining and non-bargaining capacities to drive safety culture in a positive direction in an ever-changing workplace landscape by sharing ideas, best practices, and continuous learning.
