Travis Reynolds

Picture
Travis Reynolds has bravely chosen to use his experience to educate others about the importance of workplace safety.  After being involved in a catastrophic workplace injury, he is very blessed to be alive.

On March 18, 2015, Travis went to work like any other day.  Fifteen (15) minutes before clock-out, a bar was trapped in the layer forming machine and someone needed to cut it out.  Travis volunteered, changing his life forever.  Once cutting the 4,000-pound bar, it snapped.  The bar hit him and pinned him against a beam.  The bar was roughly 2000 degrees Fahrenheit, Travis was trapped burning alive for roughly two (2) minutes before being rescued by other teammates.  This was long enough to burn through the extra personal protective equipment Travis wore for the first time that day and caused significant soft tissue and bone damage to his face and chest.

Travis’ story is full of challenges and warnings, but it is also full of hope and encouragement.  Travis is very passionate about making safety a priority.  He hopes that by sharing his story it will prevent another family from getting that terrifying phone call and dealing with the long-term effects and challenges that come with a catastrophic injury.

When he isn’t working at Nucor, Travis spends time with his family.  He is married to Alicia, and they have three (3) beautiful kids Hunter, Tanner, and Emma.  Travis enjoys fishing, hunting, camping, leading a Cub Scout pack, and restoring his ‘69 Cutlass.
