Kentucky Safety and Health Network, Inc.
Partners can achieve greater accomplishments together than individually. The theme of the 36th Annual Kentucky Governor’s Safety and Health Conference and Exposition is “Partners in Safety and Health”. On behalf of the Kentucky Safety and Health Network, Inc. (KSHN), I invite you to be our partner for the safety and health for all those who work in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
The KSHN represents business, labor, education, and government. The KSHN co-hosts the annual Kentucky Governor’s Safety and Health Conference and Exposition with the Kentucky Labor Cabinet. The mission of KSHN is to increase awareness of workplace safety and health through education and training. Your financial sponsorship is critical to the KSHN mission and allows us to present this conference and exposition at an affordable cost. More importantly, it provides the opportunity to further safety and health education and training as well as fund scholastic scholarships related to safety and health.
During the 2019 Conference and Exposition, the KSHN awarded Scholastic Achievement for Education (SAFE) Award scholarships to Kentucky college students pursuing a degree in occupational safety and health, industrial hygiene, or a related field. These students are the top of their class and represent the future in occupational safety and health. With your support, SAFE Awards will be presented at the 2020 Conference and Exposition.
Your sponsorship also supports the OSHA 10-Hour Training for Career and Technical Education (OSHA 10-4 CTE) initiative. OSHA 10-4 CTE is a collaborative initiative that began in 2017 between KSHN, the Kentucky Department of Education’s Office of Career and Technical Education, and Eastern Kentucky University’s OSHA Training Institute Education Center. OSHA 10-4 CTE provides "OSHA Authorized Outreach Trainer" status to Kentucky secondary school educators. The educators then provide OSHA 10-Hour or OSHA 30-Hour General Industry or Construction training to high school seniors in manufacturing and construction pathways at secondary schools across the state. Those students graduate high school with an OSHA 10-Hour or OSHA 30-Hour card. The initiative is a significant undertaking that has a substantial cost. This is a terrific way to start a young workers career by giving them safety and health fundamentals as they enter the workforce.
The 36th Annual Governor’s Safety and Health Conference and Exposition is May 4-7, 2020 in Louisville at the Galt House. Please save the date and plan to attend. The conference offers attendees many opportunities for training and networking through a wide variety of pre-conference training sessions, workshops, keynote speakers, general sessions, and an exhibit hall that showcases the latest products and services in occupational safety and health.
Please consider being a Partner in Safety and Health. I ask for your continued support. Check out our website and social media sites to follow the development of the 2020 Conference and Exposition.
