Sergeant Coyle will prsent an overview into the Active Shooter phenomenon and how companies and safety personnel can better prepare. The presentation will cover a wide array of topics into Active Shooters including a brief history of Active Shooter incidents, threats of violence, behaviors of concern, improvised explosive devices, security, as well as mental and physical preparation. Run, Hide, Fight philosophy, as it relates to responding against an Active Shooter attack, will also be addressed.
Sergeant Coyle is a nineteen (19) year veteran with the Kentucky State Police (KSP) and is currently the Administrative Sergeant at the Richmond KSP Post. Sergeant Coyle is a 2000 graduate from the KSP Academy, received a Bachelor of Science in Police Administration with a minor in Corrections and Juvenile Services from Eastern Kentucky University in 1999, and a Masters of Science in Adult, Juvenile, and Community Corrections Leadership in 2016, also from Eastern Kentucky University. Since 2013, Sergeant Coyle has been the Active Shooter / Safe Schools Coordinator for the KSP Richmond Post area and the SAFE School, Run, Hide, and Fight trainer for the schools. Sergeant Coyle is a life long native of Madison County, where he, his wife, and their two (2) children live in Berea.
