For more than thirty (30) years, the Annual Governor’s Safety and Health Conference and Exposition, co-sponsored by the Kentucky Safety and Health Network, Inc. (KSHN) and the Kentucky Labor Cabinet, has provided an experience specifically designed to enhance the professional development of safety and health professionals. This year’s Conference and Exposition is May 8-11, 2018 at the Holiday Inn University Plaza and Sloan Convention Center in Bowling Green. Along with a great new venue comes this year’s theme, “Safety Life.” Safety is a way of life whether at work or at play. If your passion is safeguarding Kentucky’s working men and women, then you are living the Safety Life!
The Conference is Kentucky’s industry-defining event for occupational safety and health (OSH) development. Engross yourself in interactive training opportunities, compelling keynote speakers, and breakout sessions that address a wide variety of OSH topics– all presented by top safety and health professionals.
The 2018 event also features a state-of-the-art Exposition Hall that offers attendees an opportunity to see the latest products, services, and technologies at the largest gathering of its kind in Kentucky. On Wednesday, May 9, the expo will host top safety and health companies presenting cutting edge products, technologies and services for safety and health professionals. On Thursday, May 10, the expo will host a health, wellness, and safety fair with vendors providing health and wellness education as well as various health screenings and services to motivate participants to make positive changes that emphasize the practice of good health habits. Learn more at the "Exhibitors" and the "Health, Wellness, and Safety Fair" tabs.
The 2018 conference kicks off with pre-conference training in the areas of safety and health management (OSHA 7500) and accident investigation (OSHA 7505) along with a hands-on emergency planning course that addresses specific emergency challenges. All of the courses enable participants to gather insights on best OSH practices to take back to her or his facility and immediately put into practice. The courses are cost-free for full conference registrants! Visit the "Technical Training Tuesday" tab for more information.
Two (2) separate tours are also available Tuesday. The first tour is a morning excursion to RC Components and the National Corvette Museum. The second tours kicks off Tuesday at 1:15 pm and goes to the Lost River Cave. Check out the "Tours" tab for more information.

Networking opportunities abound at every Governor’s Conference and Exposition, and that continues in 2018. Both the Conference and the Exposition facilitate an environment where attendees can develop and strengthen a network of contacts with individuals that share a common OSH interest. This is your opportunity to share ideas, challenges, and make connections!
KSHN continues to invest in tomorrow’s OSH professionals through the Scholastic Achievement for Education Awards, or SAFE Awards. Since 2005, the Network has awarded nearly $400,000 in SAFE Awards to college students. In 2017, almost $40,000 in SAFE Awards were presented at the conference to undergraduate and graduate college students pursuing a degree in occupational safety and health, industrial hygiene, or a closely related field. In keeping with the KSHN mission, SAFE Awards will be presented in 2018. Check out the SAFE AWARDS tab to see the 2017 recipients.
KSHN began a significant new initiative in 2017, OSHA 10-Hour Training for Career and Technical Education, or OSHA 10-4 CTE. OSHA 10-4-CTE is a partnership between KSHN, the Kentucky Department of Education’s Office of Career and Technical Education, and Eastern Kentucky University’s OSHA Training Institute Education Center. Visit the OSHA 10-4 CTE tab to learn more about the exciting effort.
