Dr. Blair is an Associate Professor of safety management at Eastern Kentucky University and an award-winning author and teacher. He previously chaired the graduate program in safety management at Indiana University, Bloomington and served as department chair for the safety department at Indiana State University in Terre Haute. Prior to teaching, Earl worked for twelve (12) years as a safety professional in Fortune 500 companies in the pharmaceutical, refining, and chemical industries, and for three (3) years with Safety Performance Solutions, a consulting firm in Blacksburg, Virginia. As a safety professional, he led two (2) of the earliest sites in the United States into VPP as STAR sites. Earl is a co-founder of Safety Change Agents and provides training and education for safety professionals around the world. The ASSP has contracted him to write a book titled Effective Management & Leadership for Superior Safety Performance. Recent honors include the Lifetime Achievement in Safety Award from BLR, and the American Society of Safety Professionals highest honor, ASSP Fellow.

Ms. Boyd is a lecturer in the Occupational Safety and Health Department at Murray State University. Julie is the owner and lead consultant of EHS Industrial Consultants. She graduated in 2001 from Murray State with her M.S. in Occupational Safety and Health with an emphasis in Industrial Hygiene. Upon graduation, Julie began working immediately in the manufacturing sector, where she remained for over a decade prior to teaching at the university level. She has experience in both automotive and food manufacturing sector and earned her Six Sigma Black Belt certification. Julie’s expertise ranges from a wide variety of disciplines such as human resources, industrial hygiene, worker’s compensation, environmental and plant safety policy implementation. She currently teaches industrial hygiene practical lab at Murray State University. Julie is passionate about teaching hands-on techniques for general industry and construction industrial hygiene sampling.

Dr. Byrd is an Assistant Professor of Occupational Safety and Health at Murray State University. She received both BS and MA degrees from Murray State University and an EdD from Union University. She has taught for the Department of Occupational Safety and Health for eighteen (18) years and is the Emergency Medical Training Program Coordinator. Traci is also the Assistant Director of the Occupational Safety and Health Training Center providing training in various safety and health areas including hazardous materials handling and response, incident command training, and confined space. Currently she serves at the co-chair of the Murray State University Safe Community Network, is the immediate past president of the Kentucky Safety and Health Network, Inc., and is a member of the American Society of Safety Professionals. Traci is dedicated to education and training designed to eliminate workplace injuries and illnesses, safeguarding all men and women in the workforce.

Mr. Henson is an Occupational Therapist and Certified Hand Therapist with Foundation Hand & Physical Therapy in Richmond, KY. Mr. Parker is a Safety Advocate who has a passion for saving limbs and lives in the workplace. Billy has over twenty (20) years in the welding and fabrication trade. He has participated in and applied OSHA Safety Standards from Confined Space to Lockout/Tagout. Billy is a member of a group called Moving Forward Limb Loss Support Group and is a Certified Peer Visitor with the Amputee Coalition, bringing together amputees and their caregivers. He also volunteers as a personal assistant showing other amputees how to use their new prosthesis. Additionally, Billy was nominated and won a Comp Laude award for Injured Worker in 2018. One day while cleaning out a running machine, Billy was caught and was pulled into the machine. As a result, he lost both arms above the elbow and came very close to losing his life. Now Billy's mission is to bring Safety Awareness to the workplace. He wants to share a story about the mistakes made that January morning and how losing his arms has changed the way he lives and feels about life.

Mr. Petkovsek (“Petko”) has over thirty-five (35) years of experience in Load Handling Equipment. Employed by Mazzella Lifting Technologies since 1999, Lawrence is a certified Level 3 Below The Hook Lifting Device Inspector and a sales professional. Dr. Pinion is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Environmental Health Science at Eastern Kentucky University (EKU). Clint spent six (6) years as a Health, Safety, and Environmental professional in the oil and gas industry in the Houston area, serving in roles such as the Global Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Education and Training Manager and Environmental Technician IV for a global engineering, procurement, fabrication, and construction company. He has professional experience in: HSE auditing/inspections; HSE procedure and training development/implementation; focused HSE campaign development/implementation; and HSE systems development and management. Clint currently serves as a consultant for an Environmental and Occupational Health consulting group based in Houston, Texas. He earned his Doctor of Public Health degree in Environmental and Occupational Health Science from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth), School of Public Health. Clint earned a Master of Public Health Degree from EKU and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Berea College. He currently serves as President of the American Industrial Hygiene Association-Kentuckiana and President of the Association of Environmental Health Academic Programs. Clint is a Registered Sanitarian in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. He received the EKU Creative and Critical Thinking Teacher of the Year award in 2017.

Dr. Rawlins came to Eastern Kentucky University from an extensive career of public service specializing in Human Resources and organizational safety management, most recently as an Assistant Director of the Kentucky Department of Parks. Prior to his appointment to the position as Assistant Director of the Kentucky Department of Parks, he was a Senior Industrial Hygienists with Kentucky Occupational Safety and Health Program’s Division of Education and Training. During Troy’s tenure, he was trained by the U.S. Department of Labor OSHA Training Institute and provided expert consultative health and safety training services to over 300 companies including many Fortune 500 companies.

Mr. Spurlock is an Assistant Professor at Eastern Kentucky University’s College of Justice and Safety and a Member Attorney with law firm Crump Spurlock. Prior to being a full-time faculty member at EKU, he practiced law full time and devoted a significant amount of his practice with representing and advising employers on OSHA matters. Before becoming an attorney, Barry worked for over sixteen (16) years as a safety and environmental professional in the steel, food, and insurance industries. He also served as an adjunct faculty for Indiana University for over a decade, and while there, developed one of the first courses on safety performance measurement to be offered at any university. Barry holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Industrial Safety and Risk Management, and a Master of Science in Loss Prevention and Safety Administration, both from Eastern Kentucky University. He also holds a Juris Doctor from Northern Kentucky University’s Salmon P. Chase College of Law. Barry is an active member of ASSP and currently serves the Louisville Chapter as a past president and as Chair of the Government Affairs Committee. He is also a member of ASSP’s Society-Level Government Affairs Committee. Barry has authored numerous articles for safety and trade journals, as well as the book, Physical Hazards of the Workplace. Barry is also co-author of the book “Chomp Comp; The Small Business Guide to Lower Worker’s Compensation Premiums.” He is a frequent speaker at national safety conferences such as the ASSP PDC, ASSP SeminarFest, and the National Safety Congress.
