LG&E Cane Run Generating Station

Monday, 1:30 pm
Tuesday, 8:30 am
5252 Cane Run Road
Louisville, KY 40216
The Cane Run Generating Station is the newest electric generation station in the LG&E fleet. Cane Run Unit 7 used the first two (2) manufactured SGT6-5000 Fee turbines in the world, the most technologically advanced gas turbines in Siemens' fleet. This makes Cane Run a truly unique power plant. This turbine model met the plant's required output without requiring duct firing in the Heat Recovery Steam Generator, increasing the overall efficiency of the facility and making it one of the most efficient combustion turbine plants in the world. Cane Run Unit 7 is also the first combined cycle combustion turbine power plant in Kentucky, making it the most technologically innovative generating station in the state and setting the precedent for future local combined cycle plants.
This tour is limited to fifteen (15) attendees and may be selected during the registration process. The tour is filled on a first-come, first-served basis and is approximately one (1) hour. This is an indoor and outdoor walking tour; please wear weather appropriate outer clothing. There are stairs to navigate and an elevator is not available.
